Area Golf

Citrus County offers some of the best golf in the state ot Florida.

Citrus County has often been referred to as the "Golf Coast" because there are over sixty local area golf courses all within minutes of each other. Golf pros and amateurs alike have visited Citrus County from all over the country to experience the numerous world class golfing experience we have to offer.

Visitors and locals alike know that the more than 300 sunny days per year mixed with warm breezes coming off the Gulf of Mexico combine to make winter golfing in Citrus County Florida a pleasure all year round.

Many of the golf courses in Citrus have been ranked nationally. In fact, four have been ranked in the top 100 in the nation by Golf Digest magazine. Including Southern Woods Golf and Country Club at Sugarmill Woods in Homosassa Florida, World Woods in Brooksville with two top 100 ranked golf courses and Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Florida.

Southern Woods Golf and Country Club was nominated as the Best New Private Course in 1993 by Golf Digest Magazine and offers flat, wide fairways, with thick rough, and challenging large greens.

World Woods actually occupies two spots in the top 100 nationwide. The Rolling Oaks Golf Course was recently ranked 63rd and the Pine Barrens Golf Course was ranked 9th in 1999. World Woods also has a world renowned practice facility nominated by Sports Illustrated magazine as “the best range in the world.”

Black Diamond Ranch with its famous Quarry Golf Course is easily the most unique golf course you will ever play. With 45 holes of breathtaking and challenging golf, Black Diamond does not disappoint.

The golf course at Black Diamond is carved into the remains of a limestone quarry and was designed by Tom Fazio.

Sugarmill Woods in Homosassa is a country club paradise with three remarkable golf courses. The Cypress Golf Course offers narrow fairways and numerous bunkers. The Oaks Golf Course is water free and more open with few hazards.

The Pine Golf Course at Sugarmill Woods is the longest of the three golf courses in Sugarmill Woods, and demands accurate drives because of the many out-of-bounds areas.

The Villages of Citrus Hills offers the Meadows Golf Course and the Oaks Golf Course at Citrus Hills as well as the newest Skyview golf course perched on the beautiful hillside of Terra Vista.
